Rainy Wedding
This beautiful rainy wedding in Athens is the living proof that true love is, indeed, the magical ingredient behind meaningful photographs. Rain or sunshine, what matters most is that you are getting married the person you love! What a happy rainy wedding, this was!
From where I come from, we have a saying about rainy wedding days: “Sposa bagnata, Sposa fortunate” which means that a wet bride is a lucky bride.
However, I was sure that Martina and Yiannis are more than lucky and not because of the rain on their wedding day: happy smiles, beautiful music, vibrant colours, positive energy, cheerful people surrounding the couple, love… nothing could ruin the perfect day!
Martina and Yiannis were so relaxed, they enjoyed their wedding day and felt comfortable in front of the camera. That came also as a result of a great connection with the photography camera. Our pre-wedding session and lifestyle couples photoshoot had a marvelous effect on both of them. It felt natural and easy to have their personal photographer on their big day.
Bridal Preparation
It all started with a wonderful bride’s preparation full of light and emotional moments, as the women of the family and friends sang to the bride traditional songs while she was dressing up. Happy tears were replaced soon by waves of laughter and hugs. The wedding dress by Pronovias was elegant and made the bride look like a movie star, full of grace and glamour! And her Ted Baker bridal shoes were small pieces of art.
Rain did us a favor and stopped for just enough time for the bride to do her entrance and the ceremony. They both look stunning in their bridal outfits. After the beautiful wedding ceremony, we all proceed to the wedding reception… and everyone was ready to party! The newlywed couple led the way and friends and family showed their best dancing moves all night long.

Wedding Venue
Alsos Nymfon is a green paradise, so close to Athens that it is hard to believe it. Also, it is overlooking the lake of Marathon and creates a great backdrop for a wedding ceremony and celebration. The environment is full of trees, flowers and has unique warm and home-feeling aesthetics.
This wedding venue was absolutely perfect for the wedding party after the wedding ceremony. The guests danced and celebrated intoxicated with joy and happiness. The groom was the heart of the party! In his groom attire by DressMan and into his handmade shoes by Hugo Boss, he looked like Fred Astaire in action.

I am a photographer. An unstoppable personal storyteller and a film wedding photographer. What else can I say? Taking pictures makes me feel that I have found my mission on earth. Monika Kritikou was born to chase the light!
Photography is my passion, is my lover, my art, my poetry… Sometimes I love photography and sometimes I hate it. Why? Because the thing that attracted me to it was the magic of the darkroom… The excitement that a picture that you envisioned could appear on a blank paper in seconds! This love and excitement never ceased to burn inside me.
But digital photography has built a huge bridge between photography and that original feeling of amazement through the film. That’s why I have turned back to my routes (and photography routes) which is film photography. Now I am officially a wedding and destination film photographer with all my heart and equipment.
