The Kypseli Municipal Market is an exceptional example of an interwar public building (1923-1940) located on Fokionos Negri Street. It has been a landmark of the neighborhood since its early days. In 2005, it was declared a preserved building due to its unique and diverse architectural features and its significant role in the broader Kypseli area.
This iconic market, a symbol of a neighborhood known for its social life, interaction, and commerce, was revitalized in the spring of 2023 by the Municipality of Athens. The goal is for this special building to become a daily meeting point and a hub around which an even larger community will form. With interaction, inclusivity, openness, culture, and ecological awareness as key values, Kypseli now hosts a market for everyone!
The market is managed by Technopolis City of Athens, an organization with years of experience in the city’s cultural scene. They focus on culture through both a permanent historical exhibition designed by the Technopolis Industrial Gas Museum, housed within the market and a rich program that connects the Kypseli neighborhood with the entire city.
